| The Main output level (+4) is intended for 'pro level' speakers. The 'Alt' output level (-10) is better for a consumer system and/or speakers which have a limited trim range, and are too loud when fed +4 signal. | If you only have one pair of speakers, you can use the connection that makes the most sense for your setup, and the alternate button effectively becomes a mute switch. |
