NADIR OMOWALE – Artist & Producer

BIOGRAPHY

Nadir Omowale is a Detroit-based recording artist, songwriter, producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist and bandleader. The thirteen-time Detroit Music Award winner and former MTV corespondent has established a burgeoning career centered around his musical versatility, limitless creative energy, and fine technical knowledge. In addition to his own solo work, Omowale has engineered or produced an array of projects in a variety of genres, from EDM for Detroit techno pioneers Underground Resistance, and straight ahead jazz for spoken word legend Jessica Care Moore, to hard rock, blues, gospel, alt-country, funk and soul for a long list of independent artists. The Michigan Chronicle says, “To label Nadir as a neo-soul artist would be neglecting his rock roots; to call him a rock artist would be overlooking his hip-hop and jazz influences. Fully encompassing all the talents that Nadir possesses would be comparable to expanding the mathematical term Pi to its last digit.”

“Icon Pro Audio has been a major player in Asia, New Zealand and Australia for the past 15 years, and now they are making waves in the US and Europe. The first thing to grab my attention was the build quality. Many of their products use all aluminum cases, not cheap plastic. You can tell that even though these units are competitively priced, they are also built to last.

“I use the Qcon Pro control surface with ProTools, Cubase, Ableton and Reason. Adding the Qcon Pro to my setup launched my workflow into hyperspace! The motorized faders are responsive, tight and accurate. The Qcon allows me to shift more brainpower toward the creative aspects of writing, recording and mixing, and away from the drudgeries of life in the box.

“I’m also working with the iKeyboard 3. The iKeyboard is SWEET! It’s got a fantastic key bed with great action, but the compact control panel is the real star. Quick access to every parameter, plus transport controls for my DAW are all right there at my left hand, so I don’t have to stop performing to make changes.

“As a composer and artist, it’s critical that I keep the creativity moving. The gear can’t get in the way. Icon designed these midi controllers for creators like me, musicians who are in the trenches who need reliable equipment at reasonable prices so we can get the job done.”
